This is more of a frustration than a confession.
We go to every apparel mart possible, near and far. We spend hours — sometimes days — finding what we believe are quality, perfect pieces. We try really hard to create a mix of fun statement items while also including staple pieces everyone can actually wear and style easily.
Although I must confess… finding the "fun" pieces is way more exciting. Look, I did have a confession.
I love a good pair of not-your-basic bottoms, but I digress.
Honestly, the shopping part is so much fun. Picking out pieces, touching every fabric, making sure the quality is there — it's probably the best part of owning a boutique. The constant shopping? Top-tier job perk.
The frustrating part is vendors and reps telling you, "Absolutely, you'll have your order by this date," only for you to still be waiting months later.
Listen, I understand there are pre-order items, ready-to-ship items, shipping delays, and all the things. But if you truly don't know, just say that. Tell me, "I can't be certain, but fingers crossed." I can work with honesty a whole lot better than unrealistic promises.
One thing we've learned along the way is this: if we absolutely love an item, it now has to work with at least two other pieces we buy.
Not gonna lie, in the beginning, we bought things simply because we loved them and figured we'd make them work later. As a business owner, I've learned that isn't exactly a solid business plan — and honestly, it doesn't help you either. Another confession, I am on a roll.
Our job is to make your life easier and help your purchases make sense, not just emotionally because you love something, but financially too.
Because there is nothing worse than loving one single piece — whether it's a top, bottoms, or in my case, shoes — and having absolutely nothing to wear with it.
Hello, my own personal nightmare.
Especially with my most recent sandal purchase. I absolutely love them and have absolutely nothing to wear with them. Has that stopped me from trying? Absolutely not. But my family is quick to let me know, "No ma'am… we are not wearing those with that."
Again, I digress. (a lot)
I say all of this to let y'all know we have some really cute pieces currently floating around out there in the world that we are patiently waiting on. And hopefully, they'll perfectly pair with some of the pieces we already have in stock. 🤞😅
And you have my word — if a top can't work with a basic bottom or a fun bottom, or if a bottom can't work with both staple and statement pieces, I'm going to try really hard to say no to it.
