Hi, I’m Christie — the heart behind Backroad Daydream Mercantile. I’m a wife, a mama to two wonderful boys, a proud mother-in-law, and a caretaker to a crew of fur babies of all kinds. My family is everything to me — they’ve always been my “why.”

Owning a little boutique has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I envisioned a place filled with timeless, fun, high-quality pieces — and customer service that felt more like friendship. That dream really started to take shape when I began working at a small boutique. I would come home each day full of excitement, telling my husband how much I loved it. With his support, we decided to go for it. We hit the ground running, put in a lot of behind-the-scenes work with my favorite people by my side — and now, here we are. It still doesn’t feel real... like I’m living in a daydream.

The inspiration for our boutique’s style comes from two very special women in my life: my mama and my mother-in-law — and a little bit from the Netflix show Grace and Frankie. My mama is my Frankie — free-spirited, vibrant, and fun. My mother-in-law was my Grace — classic, poised, and effortlessly stylish. Their influence is woven into everything I do.

Full transparency — I’ve never been much of an online shopper myself. (Though I do love getting a package 📦 lol!) I’m someone who has to touch and feel things. Because of that, I’ve been extremely intentional about choosing brands with exceptional quality — pieces that have been approved by the picky people around me. (My son and son-in-law included!)

And don’t worry — everything that passes through our doors is also quality-checked by our very own in-house team: Doc 🐴 and my tiny dog Paco 🐶. We take their standards very seriously. 🐾

At Backroad Daydream Mercantile, we want every one of our customers — our friends — to feel the same warmth, comfort, and sense of ease that a real daydream brings. Whether you’re shopping or just spending time with us, we hope it always feels like a place you can come back to.

I wish I could tell you I had a favorite piece… but truthfully, I love them all. Okay, maybe the cardigans — I’ll always be a cardigan girl 🧶.

Backroad Daydream came to life from a daydream. The feel is freedom, peace, and elegance with a bit of rebellion. Envision winding roads, lavender skies, and pure barefoot joy. We want it to feel like your “happy place” — where calm meets joy, whether you scroll the pages or make purchases.
